The annual general meeting(AGM) of the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010, commencing @ 3:30 p.m.
During the AGM, PAJ members will be asked to ratify revisions to the constitution and the code of practice for journalists. The election of officers to manage the affairs of the association for the next 12 months will also take place.
Only paid-up members of the PAJ are entitled to vote. The annual membership fee of $3000 is due for renewal on July 1st.
PAJ President Byron Buckley will not be seeking re-election. He served two consecutive terms as president of the 67-year-old organisation, following stints as vice-president and secretary respectively.
“It’s time for younger and fresher leadership to take the PAJ to the next level,” remarks the outgoing president.
He has indicated his willingness to serve the association in a consultative capacity.
