National Journalism Week 2011 Starts Today

A church service on Sunday, November 27 at the Hope Fellowship Church, 23 Molynes Road, St Andrew will kick start a series of activities to mark the 2011 National Journalism Week.
Under the theme ‘Justice, truth be ours forever: Journalism in a changing world’ the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) will focus on the unrelenting quest for truth by journalists and the need for transparency in building a strong and vibrant Jamaican democracy.

As the organization continues its emphasis on training and professional development, this year a group of journalists who have been involved in educating generations of professionals will be honoured. This group includes the late Professor Aggrey Brown, Ms. Leonie Forbes, Ms. Erica Allen, Mrs. Alma Mock Yen and Dr. Canute James.

The National Journalism Awards banquet will be held on Friday December 2 at the Jamaica Pegasus where Jamaica’s Journalist of the Year 2011 will be named.

The week of activities is being sponsored by Scotia bank, National Commercial Bank, Digicel, Couples Resort, Sagicor, Pan Caribbean Bank, Wisynco, J Wray & Nephew Ltd, Supreme Ventures Ltd, Capital & Credit Financial Group, National Housing Trust, Jamaica Broilers Group, Jamaica Public Service Company, Red Stripe, and the Urban Development Corporation.
